Guest Post: “I've learned that we're all entitled to have our secrets.” Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

In regards to my thoughts on people having some secrets from their family and friends—yes. Unequivocally. It’s expecting quite a lot from people to anticipate they will be honest about everything, though honesty is the easiest route, it’s hardly the most chosen. Someone told me once that I should have at least one person in the world that knows everything about me—my faults, my triumphs, my greatest fears… No secrets. And I have that with a few people. But I tend to be very forthcoming. I’m pretty much a ‘what you see is what you get,’ kind of person. But are there secrets amongst most? With me? Sure. I think everyone has things they haven’t confided… things that might alter others opinions of them and because of that, they keep it to themselves.

When it comes to each characters secret in Blissful Lies, however, that’s a different story. Their secrets are world-changing, earth-shattering types of horrific events they’ve been holding inside—and I don’t think the mass majority of people tend to harbor such consequential information. With each character in the novel, the indescribable acts they’ve been withholding from their group is something, which could destroy the relationships around them beyond repair. How would you feel if your best friend was sleeping with your mother? If someone you loved as much as you could love anyone, told you they had killed someone? Or made a decision which led to the death of someone—would you be able to forgive their transgressions? Or would it make it impossible to move forward with the relationship you once had? I think in lots of cases… that’s why people tend to keep secrets, because the emotions behind what you’d really like to tell the world is just too overwhelming.

Thank you so much for having me! I look forward to chatting with your readers and getting their feedback on the book. Feel free to tell me what you enjoyed most about the story and what you’d like to see happen in the sequel.

All my love,
