Synopsis: Illusion is the only reality.

Jane’s new career as a composer is a dream come true, but her blossoming relationship with Adam is marred by his terrifying nightmares. When Jane receives a warning that a shadowy agency is targeting Adam’s seminary school, she rescues him in the nick of time, but the only way she can protect him from such a powerful enemy is to run.

In a shocking betrayal, her brother wasn’t the one who warned her about the attack on Adam. Instead, Devin was leading it. As Jane struggles to keep one step ahead of Devin, Adam’s exhaustion gives way to horror: His nightmares have begun to touch the real world.

Jane can’t abandon Adam to a fate worse than death, and far more than Adam’s life hangs in the balance. As Jane pushes further into the dark unknown, she must challenge everything she once believed in, and she faces the most wrenching decision of her life: choosing between the two people she loves most.

Series: Jane Colt series

Review: Jane Colt returns in SYNTHETIC ILLUSIONS where she’s now a composer as she always wanted to be and she’s much happier than she was as an office drone in her father’s company. However, her boyfriend Adam is being haunted by nightmares of his creator, Pandora, and murders committed by other AIs. When Adam’s seminary is attacked, Jane makes the decision to run with Adam to keep him safe from whoever is after him. Jane discovers it is Devin, her beloved brother, who is after Adam, under orders from his new government employer ISARK. Jane refuses to sit idly by when forced to make the most devastating choice – her brother or Adam. However, it seems as if someone else is pulling the strings and it’s up to Jane to discover the truth and save those she loves. SYNTHETIC ILLUSIONS is the stunning sequel to ARTIFICIAL ABSOLUTES. I was so happy to see the characters grow and mature after the events in ARTIFICIAL ABSOLUTES and I enjoyed the new characters introduced in SYNTHETIC ILLUSIONS. Jane’s feistier than ever, especially when it comes to keeping her soulmate, Adam, from the hands of those who wish to take him apart. The action is intense and the author has made it easy, with the detail and care put into world-building, to slip into this truly different world. I’d highly suggest reading ARTIFICIAL ABSOLUTES first. SYNTHETIC ILLUSIONS is a masterpiece of science-fiction adventure!
