Guest Post: Maybe You’re Just Dreaming that You’re Awake by: Shari J. Ryan, author of When Fully Fused

Publisher: Booktrope Editions

Publication Date: July 21, 2014

Synopsis: In the third and final book of the Schasm Series, author Shari Ryan takes you on a final journey of the mind. Chloe and Alex together again maintain their composure and romance as they raise their four-year-old son, Sammy. But fairytales are merely stories they read in the nursery at night, for lurking behind each thought is a world out of control like the chaos of a car crash. As life likes to do, everything Chloe firmly believes in twists in the opposite direction. With three paths to choose from she can only choose Left. Right. Or Start Again. All the questions have answers, and the forces of good and evil wage an epic battle solely within the mind, leaving behind the constraints of reality. From time travel to drifts, When Fully Fused is a thrilling ride from start to finish, literally.

Guest Post: Maybe You’re Just Dreaming that You’re Awake

As a child with a wild imagination, I grew up, believing all things my mind created. Whether everything was purely an invention of my wandering mind or not, I’ve managed to put some of my elusive thoughts onto paper and now multiple books.  While I can recall the exact moment when I decided to write The Schasm Series, it wasn’t that moment in which my story began. It had actually started twenty-four years earlier. My mind seemed to travel into unchartered territory, even at a young age. I always had the “what if” scenario playing through my head. But my biggest “What if?” was when I was six, sitting on a school bus, wondering if I was asleep and dreaming of being on a school bus, or if I was actually awake. It only took one thought to spark a life-long question of whether or not I’m really awake, or just dreaming that I am.

These types of thoughts intrigue me, and in this case, sparked a story. While the idea is a bit haunting, it still makes me wonder if I’m going to wake up on that bus tomorrow as a six-year-old.

I went with this idea in writing The Schasm Series. The mind is a very powerful tool, and it’s easy to lose control of it.  Chloe and Alex, who are the main characters in The Schasm Series both live with a condition where their minds are more powerful than what they can control. It makes for a not so lucid living situation.

Everything in life has a meaning and sometimes you have to take a closer look to understand the significance, even in the smallest things. In When Fully Fused, you’ll learn that a locket isn’t just a locket. Just like everything else, when you take a closer look and keep an open mind, you might just learn life’s hidden secrets.
