Synopsis: A cold case heats up when Kelvin Frost, believed to have drowned in Alabama, returns from the dead to apply for more life insurance. Or has he? When a body—a dead body—identified as Kelvin Frost, turns up in Miami, murder complicates matters. Enter Luna Nightcrow, the insurance fraud investigator whose “smartphone never sleeps.” After recovering a valuable Cherokee relic, Nightcrow accepts Charmed Life Mutual Insurance's offer of $50,000 to sniff out and close down the K-Frost Caper. But it won't be easy with so few leads or clues. That doesn't surprise Luna. After all, when is the last time anyone saw Frost ... in Miami?

Review: Luna Nightcrow, an independent insurance fraud investigator, is contacted by Charmed Life Mutual Insurance when Kelvin Frost applies for a life insurance policy. The catch – CLMI already paid out on a policy for Kelvin Frost, presumed drowned. Luna takes the case and heads off for sunny Miami, Florida in search of the truth. There she finds some questionable characters as she hunts for clues to solve THE K-FROST CAPER.

THE K-FROST CAPER is a quick read featuring flamboyant characters and an even nuttier mystery. I liked Luna a lot; she has a snarky outlook which made me laugh out loud. The mystery itself wasn’t the big draw for me, it was the quirky characters. As you learned how they all related to one another, the puzzle came together. There are some editorial things, such as the use of italics in (to me) strange places, which could be addressed but it doesn’t detract much from the enjoyment of the story. THE K-FROST CAPER is a light-hearted mystery with great characters and a wonderful protagonist!
