Synopsis: 'Tis the season ... for death.

Murder reminds Detective Helene Collias of Holly PD that crime doesn't respect holidays. And the last victim she ever expected to find in her case files is the sister of her old flame, Sean Grant. Ordinarily, Helene's psychic gifts give her an edge but this time, that gift has short-circuited. Could her lingering attraction to Sean be blurring her abilities, or is something more sinister at work?

Review: Detective Helene Collias works for the Holly PD and is also a psychic witch. It’s Christmas time, and unfortunately, murder doesn’t take a break. Helene is called out the Grant house where Chelsea Grant has been viciously murdered. Her brother Sean and sister Bianca are the only Grants left now. Helene’s gifts would normally tell her more information, but for some reason they’re not working correctly in this case. It doesn’t help that Helene has an old connection to Sean which may be rekindled. Is the killer just some ordinary psycho or is there something darker at work?

MURDER UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR is a short novel, but the length doesn’t keep it from packing a powerful punch. I enjoyed the characters very much and felt they were nicely developed. I really loved the hunt for the killer, especially because it took Helene’s investigative training and not the paranormal elements to wrap up the case. The plot was tight and complex, but not hard to follow. MURDER UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR is a great mystery novel with some romance and paranormal aspects.
