Synopsis: Bloodlines, Book 1: Once cast from Heaven, Zillah has vowed to destroy God and overtake his kingdoms. But a key is needed to open the gates between the two realms.
The Key to the gate walks the earth in the form of a woman...young, innocent and completely unaware of her importance in the battle between good and evil. Once her blood is shed, Zillah can open the portal to release her father...Lucifer himself.
Cara, a college sophomore, is quickly thrown into a world of supernatural, as well as learning of her true ancestry. Vampires, werewolves and the Nephilim are now a part of her real world. As the beings struggle to protect her, she fights to keep her sanity as her mortal realm is crushed.
Secrets are revealed that could shatter Cara’s new found love, as well as lead to her ultimate death. A family is torn apart as the battle to save the key leads them down a road of betrayal and heartache. Loved ones are lost, lines are crossed, and nothing is as it seems. Lies and truths twist and turn, leaving us with only one question…
Could you sacrifice the one you love to save the world?
Interview: Q. How did writing this book affect you?
A. It changed my life. I didn’t believe I was capable of completing a book, let alone getting it signed with a publisher. But, I stuck with it and now I my only regret is doubting myself and not getting out there sooner. A whole new world has opened up for me, and I can’t wait to explore it all.
Q. What is the hardest part of writing for you?
A. My schedule. I work full time and am a single mom of two girls. I wish I had more time to write, but don’t always get to do so. It does get hard keeping up with everything at times. It won’t stop me though.
Q. Do you plan any subsequent books?
A. Yes! Book two is in final stages before I send it off to the publisher, and then I will be working on the third book in the series. I also have a few other books that I will be putting out in the near future, hopefully next year or two.
Q. What are you currently reading?
A. Right now, I am reading Ellie Stanton (The Heller Park Series), by Aurora Zahni. It’s a great young adult book, and I haven’t been able to set it down. Ellie is a misfit teen with a mad craving for sandwiches and a love of ladybugs. Very interesting character and her troublesome journey is a fun to follow.
Q. Please tell us your latest news (book-related or not!).
A. I’ve been working on several projects. My main one is getting book two released as soon as possible, and then follow up with my first sci-fi novel after that with book 3 of my Bloodlines series to follow. I’m going to be super busy for a while.
Q. What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?
A. I like to play Buffy and Angel DVDs in the background while I write. I don’t even pay attention to them, unless it’s one of my favorite parts coming up, but I do seem to be in a zone when they’re on. I’m a big Joss Whedon fan, so having his creation playing keeps me inspired and focused.
Q. Please tell us a fun-fact about yourself!
A. I’m a video game nut. I would be on the Xbox all day, every day, if I could. My schedule has been so busy lately, I’m literally having withdrawals. But, there will be scheduled play time coming up soon.
Q. Is there anything you haven’t written about that you would like to in the future?
A. Yes! I want to try my hand at a horror. I’m a huge horror fanatic and know that the genre is difficult to pull off. So, it will be interesting for me, and a challenge to see what I can do. I’ve got a book idea in the works for it, so we’ll see how it plays out.
Q. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
A. Raid tombs. I would love to learn about history and artifacts and be a full on Lara Croft. Yes, I am truly a nerd!
Q. What gives you the most joy in life?
A. My kids.
Q. Which of your characters would you want to be and why?
A. I would have to say it would be Shannon. She’s a beautiful, strong willed and to top it off - one bad ass warrior.
Q. How do you like to spend your spare time?
A. Xbox 360! Or, shooting BB guns up in the hills.
Q. How did you come up with the title?
A. I just thought of it one morning. I was thinking about Nephilim and vampyres, and it popped into my head. It fit the story, and didn’t hurt that Lilies are my favorite flower.
Q. When did you know you would be a writer?
A. I’ve always known I wanted to write since grade school. But I changed from writing poetry to novels about five years ago. It was a challenge to myself if I could create an entire story, and I feel in love instantly with doing so.
Q. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
A. Thank you for coming by to check out my interview. Keep your ears open for book 2 – Blood & Kindred coming soon!
