Synopsis: A Lifetime is the story of a struggle. Of one man born into nothing and who fights to make his way through life, to leave the place of his birth -- a place of suffering and strife -- and to create a new life elsewhere.
To find himself a wife, to start a family and to achieve the things he thought unachievable. It is a story of success, loss, delight and grief; a story of what it means to have everything and what it feels like to have nothing. It is also a story of the very special bond between a father and his daughter.
Interview: Q. Please tell us about the inspiration for your current release.
I was inspired by my own upbringing in the Fiji Islands. I was born into relative poverty on a sugar plantation (much like the main character’s family). I was also influenced by my daughter and my wife, the women in my life. They are two very strong females that I love and adore; this book is dedicated to them.
Q. How did writing this book affect you?
It brought back some memories, bad and good, but ultimately it is a work of fiction and I love to create worlds and allow my imagination to be captured within them. So, I really enjoyed writing this and I’ve already started on my next book.
Q. What is the hardest part of writing for you?
I’m still relatively new to the writing game, certainly as anything other than a hobby, and I love every minute of it. Certain aspects can be difficult, but all in all, it is a very enjoyable experience and a wonderful job to have.
Q. What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?
I’m not sure that I have any. I tend to write like all writers (I think) which means I sit and fret in front of my computer, drinking a lot of coffee and grinning like a child every time I write something amusing.
Q. Do you plan any subsequent books?
There are a few titles in the pipeline. I really enjoyed writing “A Lifetime” so I intend to do some more, maybe a collection of short stories, maybe something a little more edgy. You’ll have to wait and see!
Q. What are you currently reading?
I have a few books on the go. I like to read as much as possible in as many different genres as I can. At the moment, I’m reading Word War Z, Under the Dome and a thriller I recently downloaded for free on Kindle, the name of which eludes me.
Q. Please tell us your latest news (book-related or not!).
I am working really hard at the moment to ensure a painless publication of “A Lifetime”, but things are rarely painless in the world of publishing! Hopefully, if all goes well, it will be out shortly.
Q. Please tell us a fun-fact about yourself!
I have a beautiful wife and daughter. That might not be everyone’s idea of “fun” but they light up my world and I love them both with all of my heart.
Q. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Only that I hope you enjoy my book! I put a lot of work into it and even injected some of my own experiences into the main character. So I really hope it is well received.
