Synopsis: The battle between Light and Dark is about to begin.

Caroline Ellis sixteenth birthday sets into motion a series of events that have been fated for centuries. A descendant of Virginia Dare, the first child born in the lost colony of Roanoke, and unaware of her birthright as the heir to the throne of the Light Fae, it isn’t until she begins a tumultuous relationship with Devilyn Reilly that the truth is revealed.

Devilyn is the only one of the Fae who is both of the Light and of the Dark, and struggles to maintain that precarious balance to avoid succumbing to the power of the Dark within him. He is the only one who can save Caroline from those who would destroy her and destroy all hope for unity among the Fae. He promises Caroline that he will protect her at all costs, even when it means protecting her from himself.

Told from the alternating perspectives of Caroline and Devilyn, FAE draws on mysteries, myths and legends to create a world, and a romance, dangerously poised between Light and Dark.

Interview: The Bibliophilic Book Blog welcomes Colet and Jasmine, who write as C.J. Abedi.

Q. Please tell us about the inspiration for your current release.

There were so many reasons we decided to write this series, but the catalyst was really our obsession with the stories of the Tuatha de Danann. Irish mysticism is pretty cool when you really take a look at it. It’s so rich with story that it lends itself as the perfect backdrop to an epic romance between star-crossed lovers.

Q. How did writing this book affect you?

Colet: You always learn a lot about yourself when you’re so immersed in a world, as we were/are with FAE. There were days when I’d wake up and I’d be sad for Caroline because that’s where we were in the story or days where I’d just think about how Devilyn is so sexy… yes, I really would. There’s a fine line between what’s reality and fantasy and as a writer you can easily live in one or the other.

Jasmine: I spend a lot of time in my head, but even more so when we were writing Fae. When we finally reached the final chapter of Book I not only did I feel such a huge sense of accomplishment (more than I felt after completing law school), but I also felt that the characters that were initially just people we had created in our minds had truly come alive. It was such a strange and yet invigorating feeling and one that I had never felt in my entire life.

Q. What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Colet: The hardest part for me is when Jasmine and I aren’t on the same page. When you’re writing as a team you’ve got two different personalities, opinions… everything. And combine all that with being sisters, it’s especially hard. I can be stubborn and it’s hard for me to budge when I believe in an idea so much.

Jasmine: I think writing in general can be a very lonely process.  As I said earlier, you may be living with many characters in your head, but you are physically alone. So, it’s nice to have a writing partner, especially a loved one.  However, like most siblings, we also argue quite a bit especially about our ideas for the book. We are different in so many ways, and yet we like a lot of the same things as well. It’s when the differences arise…

Q. What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?

Colet: I like to write late-late… really, late at night. I think my best work happens when the world around me is sleeping.

Jasmine: I don’t know if it’s a quirk or a habit, but I prefer to write in my bedroom.  I don’t feel like I can truly concentrate anywhere else.

Q. Do you plan any subsequent books?

Fae will be a trilogy and therefore we have Books 2 & 3 to complete and at the same time we’re working on our own projects. We haven’t really thought past FAE-Book 3.

Q. What are you currently reading?

Colet: "Life After Life" by Kate Atkinson

Jasmine: I literally just finished “One Tiny Lie” by KA Tucker, so I’m trying to figure out my next read, but I’m thinking it might be Ten Tiny Breaths.

Q. Please tell us your latest news (book-related or not!).

Colet:  I have three shows that are on in syndication right now, Unsealed: Alien Files, Unsealed: Conspiracy Files and Now Eat This with Rocco DiSpirito! I'm also developing scripted and non-scripted shows that I hope to pitch soon!  I've been obsessed with essential oils for a while so I've been putting together a limited edition essential oils line that's kind of more like a side project.

Jasmine:  In addition to my love of writing, I am also really in to clean products and bringing awareness to the general public about the dangers of certain chemicals we use in our everyday lives.  Because of this, my best friend from law school and I started a cosmetic company called Generation Klean.  It is a project I’m extremely proud of.

Q. Please tell us a fun-fact about yourself!

Colet: I’m a triple Pisces :-)

Jasmine: I’m a Gemini (which means I’m probably a double Gemini since Gemini is the sign of twins).

Q. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

We hope they enjoy FAE Book 1 as much as we enjoyed writing it. There is so much more to come for Caroline and Devilyn and we’re excited to take the readers on the ride.
