Synopsis: Magda Lazarus has twice come back from the dead to fight the Nazis’ devastating conquest of Poland. To prevent the Holocaust her sister has seen in terrible visions, Magda will need the Heaven Sapphire, a gem powerful enough to defeat even the demon Asmodel. With the future of all Europe in the balance, Magda and her husband, the fallen angel Raziel, begin a perilous journey to the Caucasus, the resting place of the fabled stone.

Surrounded by Germans, Russians, and mistrustful Azerbaijani tribesmen, Magda must summon all her magic to withstand the predations of the deadly supernatural foes. But more dangerous yet is the power of the Sapphire itself, which could stop Hitler…or destroy Magda.

Rebel Angels, the climactic book of Michele Lang's Lady Lazarus trilogy, filled with suspense, magic, and action, will have readers at the edge of their seats until the exciting conclusion.

Review: Magda Lazarus returns in the conclusion of the Lady Lazarus trilogy. The Book of Raziel is lost to the Nazis and Asmodel was trapped in Gisele’s locket, but now free. Magda and Raziel must go to the Caucasus and find the Heaven Sapphire, the only item on Earth which can stop the steam engine of the Nazi war machine. Many hands move to help Magda, but many more work against her and she has a long journey before she can rest.

‘Rebel Angels’ is the final book of the Lady Lazarus trilogy and things get scary. There are also some really cool things, like flying carpets and even more angels. I think Magda, by the beginning of ‘Rebel Angels’ had become overly confident in her powers. In time, Magda learns the limits of her own magical and Lazarus abilities. Humbled by her limitations and her losses, Magda still finds a way to make what she has work. Ms. Lang has written a tour-de-force ending to an epic trilogy in ‘Rebel Angels’. I am very impressed with the trilogy as a whole and the author. I highly recommend these books for fans of alternate history with a supernatural twist.

Lady Lazarus series: Lady Lazarus (1), Dark Victory (2), Rebel Angels (3)
