Synopsis: Attacked as a young witch and left for dead, Ashlinn is deathly afraid of being bitten again. Having survived until she’s almost eighteen without donating blood to any of her vamp friends, Ashlinn figures she’ll continue to live bite-free. After her crush reveals how powerful she is, however, the Vampire Council declares she be claimed as a familiar, which requires biting. Ashlinn doesn’t want to be owned, even by hot vamp, Conor. Luckily, her best friend, Matt, volunteers for the job. She is given one week to choose her protector, and the list of willing biters keeps growing. Will she go with best friend Matt, hot vamp Conor, or someone else to protect her? Will she be able to get her power under control by then? Will she overcome her phobia of being bitten? And who says she needs to be protected, anyhow?

Interview: Thank you so much for having me! I really appreciate it. :)

Q. Please tell us about your current release.

Wanted is about a young, powerful witch, Ashlinn, and her vampire best friends, Matt and Cora. Ash’s crush, Conor, is also a vampire and when he discovers how powerful she is, Ashlinn realizes anonymity isn’t so bad. She becomes alluring to vamps and the Vampire Council declares she has to be claimed as a familiar - a witch who is ‘owned’ by a vamp. The book follows Ash as she struggles to decide who should be the one to bite her - even though she is deathly afraid of being bitten. Both Conor and Matt vie for the job, and even though it sounds like a love triangle - Ash’s heart really only belongs to one boy.

Q. How did writing this book affect you?

Writing for me is cathartic. It is an escape from reality. If I couldn’t write, I’d probably go slowly crazy. :) Finishing this book was a huge accomplishment for me, because even though I’ve been writing my whole life, this is the only book I’ve ever finished. Having it published was the realization of a lifelong dream. - very life-affirming for me. The year before I finished Wanted, I went through a huge life-change, and I thought my dreams were over, having this book get a chance really changed my view on life around and made me realize that the closing of one door is not an ending - but a beginning to something better. It’s all in how we pick ourselves up after we’ve been knocked down.

Q. Can you tell us about the journey that led you to writing?

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been writing. I have poems and short stories from grade school, and notebooks upon notebooks filled with started books from grade school through the present. I love putting pen to paper, and still sometimes write my ideas out longhand. Writing has always been a part of my life, but a part that not everyone around me knew about, it is like my secret outlet.

Q. What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Sitting down and writing, then finishing. My mind is always writing. I wish there was a program that wrote as you thought! I’d have tons done! My problem is actually forcing myself to sit down and get those thoughts out. My mind works so much faster than my fingers, I tend to skip over details to get to the scenes I want to get out.

Q. Do you have a musical playlist you listen to while writing? If so, what kind of music?

I don’t have a set playlist. When I’m writing, I usually have one of my TV on DVDs on, but if I do listen to music, it’s probably rock.

Q. What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?

I write in my living room, usually surrounded by the hubby and the 2 kiddos. Our house is small, so there is no getting away. So I have to try and squeeze as much in as I can at each session. I am definitely a pantser with a tiny bit of planning thrown in here and there.

Q. Do you plan any subsequent books?

I am working on the sequel to Wanted as we speak.

Q. Please tell us your latest news (book-related or not!).

My son just made his First Communion and my 4-year-old daughter has her first dance recital next weekend. This has been a busy kid-related spring. :) I’m not used to it, yet. They are just now getting involved.

Q. Please tell us a fun-fact about yourself!

I love to travel and collect rocks or shells from the places I’ve been. They’re not labeled, but they are all around the house on every surface. :) I’m also obsessed with baseball!

Q. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Thank you so much for giving Wanted a try! I hope you like it. Please feel free to visit my blog or Facebook page and leave me feedback, or you can tweet me. I love hearing from readers! And one last preachy thing - Don’t ever give up on your dreams, no matter how far down you are, there is always hope, I promise!
