Synopsis: After her werewolf boyfriend, Johnny, tried to kill her, Persephone Alcmedi finds herself in the comforting arms of powerful vampire Menessos. She’s trying to sort out her feelings for the two men, but not even Seph is above the confusion of tangled emotions. All Johnny wants to do is mend their relationship and reveal the life-altering news he’s recently received, but his new responsibilities as the werewolf king take up most of his time.

Does this mean Menessos can finally make his move?

Meanwhile, unknown to Seph, her beloved foster daughter, Beverley, has been playing with a magical artifact and making dubious friends on the other side. When Beverley disappears, Seph must seek help from a supernatural being so potent that even Menessos fears him...and such aid always comes with a very steep price.

Review: Persephone Alcmedi has her hands full. She’s the Lustrata and the Erus Veneficus to Menessos’ successor. She’s not the only one who is dealing with a lot, though: her boyfriend Johnny is the Dom Lup (King) of the w√¶rewolves, and Menessos has had to step down as leader of his vampire clan as Seph has marked him. All of this is going to come to a head when Seph’s foster daughter, Beverly, uses an artifact of Seph’s which called to her – showing now Beverly isn’t only human. Seph, Johnny, and Menessos are being challenged from all quarters. Blood will be spilled, deals will be struck, and no one will come out of this unchanged…

The tension and the action in ‘Shattered Circle’ are ramping up to something VERY big which we have yet to see. In my personal opinion, Seph, Johnny, and Menessos are the triumvirate which works. They’re all flawed and trying to figure out the best course of action while those around them, friend and foe, throw obstacles in their way. I love the layers of complexity which have been added over the course of the series and the growth the characters have shown. I am amazed at how well they’re able to deal with responsibilities which would have the average person running from in a heartbeat. ‘Shattered Circle’ is a great addition to this series and now I can’t wait for the next one!!

Persephone Alcmedi series: Vicious Circle (1), Hallowed Circle (2), Fatal Circle (3), Arcane Circle (4), Wicked Circle (5), Shattered Circle (6)
