Synopsis: On September 11th, 2001, Islamic terrorists hijacked four passenger airliners, creating the worse attack on American soil in over fifty years. Now, they have infiltrated America, using operatives to broaden the war against the United States by once again bringing the fight directly to US soil. These operatives were inconspicuously placed in the country to build an underground infrastructure from which to launch strikes against their selected targets.
This is the terrifying scenario posed in K.C. Lindberg’s suspenseful debut novel as Muslim terrorists coordinate an attack to destabilize the US government. Hoping to coordinate four simultaneous terrorist events across all four time zones, the Mujahedeen will demonstrate the inherent weakness of the United States against the power of Islam and push our government to overreact, thus increasing the terrorists’ ability to recruit new soldiers for the Jihad. As October 10th, the day of the attacks nears, their targets chosen and methods in place, The US President and a handful of advisers attempt to thwart the coming devastation to keep the country from being thrown, as the terrorists believe, into a state of weakness and chaos.
A sobering look at the rationale, methods, and mindset of international terrorists, Lindberg paints a tense, riveting sequence of events whose plausibility is all too real. Full of authentic procedures and protocol, dynamic dialogue, and page-turning action, this shocking action-thriller will keep you riveted from page one to its explosive climax. By examining America’s strategic weaknesses to fabricate a realistic threat, Rise of the Red Crescent creates a startling image of our country once again fighting a war on our own soil.
Author Interview: Q. Please tell us about your current release.
Rise of the Red Crescent is a fast-paced thriller following four simultaneous terrorist attacks across the US. We wrote this book as a clarion call to reawaken the people of the US to the danger we face from extremists.
Q. How did you come up with the idea for your book?
Chris Lindberg had a vivid dream of a meeting with Osama Bin Laden that sparked the idea for the book. We started researching, and planning based off the dream. As a Military Intelligence Officer, his job was to play the role of the enemy, so he used this skill to formulate the plans for the antagonist.
Q. Can you tell us about the journey that led you to write your book?
We started writing the book after Chris got out of the Army and was out of work. Kathleen joined the effort and took over the majority of the writing after her retirement from a charity organization. We now work together to develop plots, write, review and edit the books with our family and friends.
Q. If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything about the book?
No, we learned many valuable lessons from the writing of this book that cannot be duplicated in a classroom setting. The writing is the fun part of publishing a book, the job is the publishing and promotional portion of getting a book out to the public.
Q. What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Creating a believable timeline for the attacks, followed by publishing and promotion of the books.
Q. Do you have a musical playlist you listen to when writing? If so, what kind of music?
No, we need to concentrate on the writing. We also don’t listen to music during the collaboration because it interferes with our conversations.
Q. What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?
We are a mother-son writing team, and we have different roles in the writing process. Chris is the planner and technical advisor, while Kathleen fills out the story line and provides the human interest and imagery for the story. She writes in total sequences of one event and Chris then takes this and edits them into the desired time line of events.
Q. Do you plan any subsequent books?
Yes, this book is the first in a series; the second is currently in the writing stage, with a tentative title of “Mighty Men Rising”. A third book is in the outline stage and will follow to our hopeful conclusion.
Q. Please tell us your latest news.
We are currently writing the second book as we try to promote the first book. Kathleen will be speaking at a conference in Charlotte, NC next week.
Q. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
We want them to stay aware of any threats to the United States and to remain vigilant to anything that just seems odd to them. Report these to the appropriate authorities in order to keep America safe from future attacks. God Bless the veterans and this country.
