Author Interview: Q. Please tell us about your current release.

We live in a culture that teaches women to both fear and ignore their sexuality, and repress their sensuality. Women are largely uneducated about their full potential for sexual pleasure, and are discouraged from exploring their own unique style of healthy sensual expression.

Shake Your Soul-Song presents the idea of using pleasure as a path to self-empowerment and soul connection.

By using the methodology of The 4 Principles of Self-Pleasure, each woman will more deeply understand her relationship to The 4 Forms of Pleasure, and how to use them for accessing more of her personal & spiritual potential.

Each of The 4 Principles of Self-Pleasure uses practical and fun tools designed to effectively awaken and heal each woman's relationship to her sexuality and sensual self-expression.

Q. How did you come up with the idea for your book?

The idea for the book arose from my experiences teaching Authentic Tantra workshops. We recommend "Solo Tantra" or self-pleasure as part of our curriculum, and I realized very quickly that the men were very comfortable with this aspect of Tantric practice, and the women had no idea where or how to begin.

Additionally, many women were downright fearful of the idea of pleasuring themselves for long periods of time, and were confronting deep emotional and psychological resistance to the idea. I myself had gone through a similar process of confronting internal "programming" that suggested that it was inappropriate for me to pleasure myself, and became aware of a deep sense of disempowerment regarding my sexual and sensual pleasure.

I observed that through my process of healing my relationship to my sexuality, I began to feel more empowered and more productive in other areas of my life as well.

I wrote this book as encouragement and support for women to begin embarking on the journey of personal empowerment through sexual healing, and give clear guidelines for how to create their own self-pleasure practice, that includes sexual AND sensual pleasure.

Q. If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything about the book?

Not at this point, but that may change down the road.

Q. What was the hardest part of writing your book?

I wrote the book in a similar fashion to the way I present material when I teach, so it was actually quite an easy and fun process for the most part. The toughest part was cataloguing all of those footnotes!

Q. Do you have a musical playlist you listen to when writing? If so, what kind of music?

I enjoy mostly silence, with the sounds of the natural environment to aid me.

Q. What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?

I prefer writing by hand, but often my writing is so illegible that I can't understand what it says.

Q. Do you plan any subsequent books?

Possibly "The Art of Self-Pleasure for Men" which I would co-author with my Tantric partner, Jacques Drouin.

Q. Please tell us your latest news.

Shake Your Soul-Song is being published November 5th, and I have some corresponding workshops and event scheduled. November 8th-29th I will be presenting The 4 Principles of Self-Pleasure and Authentic Tantra in Vancouver, BC. December 1-2nd we have a Tantra weekend workshop scheduled in Portland, Oregon, and I am really excited to be presenting a one-day, Sensual Awakening For Women Workshop in Sedona, Arizona on December 8th. After that I will be in Detroit for the Holidays, and am looking forward to future events in Atlanta, Georgia, Minneapolis, and New York City.

You can find out more about each of these events on my website feminine-emergence.com.

Q. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Savor the small pleasures in life. Every time we truly allow pleasure to penetrate our awareness, we become physically healthier, and more emotionally balanced, present and peaceful. Pleasure truly is a spiritual path that leads to realization of our true nature, and the true purpose of human existence.
