Synopsis: Felicia Miller is a normal small town girl struggling to overcome her shyness. Just as she's starting to blossom her life is shattered by a group of wayward boys who lure her to a haunted hollow in the woods. Violently assaulted and left in the cold night fog, Felicia wakes in the remote cabin of the town witch, who gives her a magic necklace, bestowing the power to transform into her totem animal, the cat. Any kind of cat, large or small. But she must follow a precise ritual, using a mirror at sundown to effect the transformation, and must face the same mirror at sunrise to change back.

Skeptical but tempted, Felicia is surprised when the magic actually works. Aided by shapeshifter friends, Felicia rains hell on the evil boys, one by one.  But revenge doesn't come easy. Felicia's reign of terror in various feline forms confuses and terrifies the locals. She must keep her secret safe from her parents; is distracted by a new love; loses her shapeshifting allies; and arouses suspicion in a town full of gossipy haters. A bounty is posted and hunters flood the woods to track and kill the mysterious beast.

And just when Felicia has mastered her power and is about to complete her murderous mission, the surviving boys uncover her secret and plot a final trap...  But Felicia's feline nature compels her to keep taking risks. Will her arrogance doom her? Or will her feline cunning prevail?

Review: ‘The Nine Lives of Felicia Miller’ is screenwriter and producer Joe Augustyn’s first novel and it’s a doozy! Felicia Miller is a teenage girl, who experiences the best and worst night of her life in the span of a few hours. After her solo singing performance at her high school, she is attacked and brutally raped by the town delinquent and his best buddies. Saved by the local witch (Granny) and her son, Felicia is given a power beyond imagining – the power to transform into any kind of cat…and exact her revenge on the boys who stole her innocence.

Mr. Augustyn has a knack for writing a story which comes alive before your eyes. ‘The Nine Lives of Felicia Miller’ reads like a movie and you can see everything happening easily in your mind’s eye. This is a great horror story with an underlying message of empowerment. I loved how the author didn’t shy away from the graphic details, because they made the story even richer and brought the horror to the forefront. I enjoyed Felicia’s discoveries of what she could do with her newfound abilities and the feeling of power she reveled in once she understood more. This is an action and suspense-filled novel, which will keep you on the edge of your seat as you come closer and closer to the epic resolution. Fans of truly dark horror will delight in Mr. Augustyn’s debut novel!
