Synopsis:
After her father loses the family fortune in an insider-trading scheme, single mom Parker Welles is faced with some hard decisions. First order of business: go to Gideon’s Cove, Maine, to sell the only thing she now owns—a decrepit house in need of some serious flipping. When her father’s wingman, James Cahill, asks to go with her, she’s not thrilled…even if he is fairly gorgeous and knows his way around a toolbox.

Having to fend for herself financially for the first time in her life, Parker signs on as a florist’s assistant and starts to find out who she really is. Maybe James isn’t the glib lawyer she always thought he was. And maybe the house isn’t the only thing that needs a little TLC…

Review: Somebody to Love is a wonderful novel of loss, love, and redemption. Parker Welles is on her own financially after her father is arrested for insider trading and empties her trust fund and her son's trust fund to cover the losses. She goes up to Maine to clean and sell the house she inherited from her aunt, but it's not exactly what she expected. It's going to take a lot of work and her father's lawyer, James Cahill comes up to help her out. Parker feels she doesn't need 'Thing One' (as she calls James) or his help. However, James isn't everything Parker's always believed him to be...

I loved Parker! Growing up rich does affect people, but for the most part Parker is level headed and she's a great mother. She's wary to trust those associated with her family, especially anyone associated with her father...like James Cahill. However, she does realize she can be wrong and has a lot to learn about love. The people of Gideon's Cove are great and quirky to say the least! Somebody to Love is heartwarming and the characters are very endearing. It's a fun novel that's a quick read and will make you laugh and cry. Another great Kristan Higgins story!
