Nastasya has spent the last century living as a spoiled, drugged-out party girl. She feels nothing and cares for no one. But when she witnesses her best friend, a Dark Immortal, torture a human, she realizes something's got to change. She seeks refuge at a rehab for wayward immortals, where she meets the gorgeous, undeniably sexy Reyn, who seems inexplicably linked to her past.

Nastasya finally begins to deal with life, and even feels safe--until the night she learns that someone wants her dead.

Cate Tiernan, author of the popular Sweep series, returns with an engaging story of a timeless struggle and inescapable romance, the first book in a stunning new fantasy trilogy.

Review: Only a few pages in and I was hooked on Cate Tiernan's first book in the Immortal Beloved trilogy. Nastasya has spent the whole of her life running from a terrible memory...all 400+ years of her life. She spent many of her years with Innocencio, her supposed best friend, until one night when he crippled a man with his magic for no reason. The next day she left and went to River's Edge - a home for 'wayward' immortals. At first, it was hard to give up her former party-girl ways and form connections to the people in the home and in the surrounding town. Nastasya started to remember her past and her power with the help of River and the other teachers. Yet, Nastasya's not necessarily safe at River's Edge either, from internal and external foes.

Immortal Beloved is a wonderful start to an exciting new trilogy. I've loved Cate Tiernan's books since the Sweep series and I was happy to see she hasn't lost her touch. I was easily swept away into Nastasya's life. While there may seem to be similarities in Immortal Beloved to the author's previous works, they have been utilized in different ways to make the story exciting and fresh. I am eagerly anticipating reading the next two novels in the trilogy.

Immortal Beloved Trilogy: Immortal Beloved (1), Darkness Falls (2), Eternally Yours (3)

  1. I loved the Sweep series! It's good to see something new from Cate. I may have to check this book out!

  2. It is with a heavy heart that I finished this book. Why was it heavy, you ask? Because it made me realize that I've got about a full year until the next book in the series is supposed to be released. For once I'm reading one of Tiernan's series & not had the luxury of having all of it finished by the time I started reading it.
