Synopsis:
Nastasya has lived for hundreds of years, but for some reason, life never seems to get any better. She left her spoiled, rich girl life to find peace at River's Edge, a safe haven for wayward immortals. There, she learned to embrace River's Edge, despite some drama involving the sexy Reyn, who she wants but won't allow herself to have. But just as she's getting comfortable, her family's ties to dark magick force her to leave.

She falls back into her old, hard partying ways, but will her decision lead her into the hands of a dark immortal? Or will it be her first step to embracing the darkness within her?

Review: Nastasya has come to mostly enjoy her new life at River's Edge and care about the people around her, even though she still feels like an outsider. During the New Year's ritual, she decides to release something which she thought would be good to get rid of, but then events take a turn for a worse and her life starts going down the tubes. She makes the wrong choices for the right reasons and falls back into her old crowd. Yet, she now sees them and her own past in a new light. Perhaps someone else has had a hand in her selfish existence up until this point; however it still doesn't excuse her past behavior as she never looked for the reasons she was doing hurtful and thoughtless things.

I liked Immortal Beloved immensely and I was happy to see the growth and discovery of the characters in Darkness Falls. Nastasya has really tried to make a difference in her life with her time at River's Edge, but after living over 400 years, some thought and behavioral patterns are hard to break. After she is scared and disheartened by the recent events, she runs away (as is her typical reaction) and falls right back into the group she ran from in Immortal Beloved. Yet, Nasty has grown as she can see that nothing was like she thought and all that glitters is not gold. I loved how we get to see into River's past and get a more introspective look into Nastasya's past. I thought Nastasya's side commentary was hilarious and educational. I am eagerly awaiting to see how events unfold in the final book, Eternally Yours

Immortal Beloved Series: Immortal Beloved (1), Darkness Falls (2), Eternally Yours (3)
