Synopsis: There aren't many girls who can say they've gone into the realm of death and lived to tell the tale. But to restore her lover Zayvion's soul, Allison Beckstrom had to pay a bitter price - and things are about to get worse...
It turns out the leader of the Authority, the council that decides what can - and can't - be done with magic, is being held hostage. But when the trail leads Allie and Zayvion to the secret prison where the Authority locks away magic criminals who are too dangerous to be held anywhere else, they find more than they bargained for. An undead magic user has possessed one of the prisoners, and he wants his freedom - and then some. Now Allie and Zayvion are the first line of defense against the chaos he's about to unleash on the city of Portland...
Review: Allie's still reeling over losing her small personal well of magic - an emptiness that can't be filled. But she and Zayvion have a lot more to handle right now than they thought. Sedra, the leader of the Authority, is gone - abducted - and the rest of the Authority is in shambles. No one's at their best and no one is what or who they seem. It's going to take all Allie's got to get through the troubles ahead...
Ms. Monk has got a solid hit series and every book keeps getting better! I love Allie's complexity, and of course, the characters who surround her and make up her true family. Magic on the Hunt is a must read for fans of this series. Hidden truths come to light, allegiances are tested, and tensions are escalating. The plot is tight and I know that only greater things are to come. I can't wait!
Allie Beckstrom series: Magic to the Bone (1), Magic in the Blood (2), Magic in the Shadows (3), Magic on the Storm (4), Magic at the Gate (5), Magic on the Hunt (6), Magic on the Link (7), Magic without Mercy (8)
