As the youngest and only female member of the Knights Templar, Bilqis SanGreal grew up knowing she wasn't normal. Instead of hanging out at the mall or going on dates, she spends her time training as a warrior in her Order's ancient battle against the Unholy.

Billi's cloistered life is blasted apart when her childhood friend, Kay, returns from Jerusalem, gorgeous and with a dangerous chip on his shoulder. He's ready to slide back into Billi's life, but she's met someone new: amber eyed Mike, who seems to understand her like no one else and effortlessly stakes a claim on her heart.

But the Templars are called to battle before Billi can enjoy the thrilling new twist to her life. One of the Order's ancient enemies has resurfaced, searching for a treasure that the Templars have guarded for almost a thousand years - King Solomon's cursed mirror, a source of unimaginable power. To save the lives of millions, Billi will have to put her heart aside and make sacrifices greater than she could have imagined.

Review: Billi SanGreal is the only female Templar and not everyone in the Order agrees that she should be there. After her mother was murdered years ago, she's been training day and night by the express orders of her father. However, there are times that she'd like to just be a normal girl, having things like best friends and a boyfriend. When her childhood friend, Kay, comes back from his training in Jerusalem to control his mental powers, Billi pushes him away because she felt abandoned. When she meets Mike, she feels something she's never felt before...understanding, compassion, and what she thinks could be love. But is Mike too good to be true? Will Billi be able to battle her own demons as well as the fallen angels trapped in King Solomon's mirror and come out unscathed?

I really liked this book! I thought the idea of modern-day Knights Templar was very intriguing and another thing I thought was interesting is the all of the Templars (with the exception of Billi) have names from the King Arthur tales (i.e. Arthur, Kay, Pelleas, etc.). I felt for Billi and her struggle to meet her father's expectations and also prove her worth to the other Templars and herself. I thought that the characters were well developed and the story was beautifully written and engrossing. I will definitely will be picking up Billi's next adventure!!

Billi SanGreal series: The Devil's Kiss (1), Dark Goddess (2)

  1. I loved this one and just recently finished Dark Goddess. I am really enjoying this series. Nice review!

  2. I'm not familar enough with Arthurian legend to have known before reading the book that the Templars had the same names as people from the Arthur tales. These books are clearly well researched and Billi is one of my favorite YA protagonists. Plus it was cool to read about scary paranormal creatures who weren't made to be love interests (well that's not entirely true..)

I liked Dark Goddess even more than Devil's Kiss :D
