I have had a few DNF's the last few weeks. It makes me sad but, you can't love everything and I will explain why I couldn't finish them, of course. I will also link to some other reviews for you to check out.

I couldn't finish this one because I couldn't deal with the whiplash back and forth between characters. I love J.R. Ward, she is one my all time favorite authors but I couldn't focus in this book at all and I just couldn't finish it. I don't think I will try the next one.

I just couldn't get past the fact that this girl is supposed to be an angel and she is just well for lack of a better word, dumb. I am sorry....I just couldn't get into this one, the characters didn't seem real and plausible to me. Such a beautiful cover though!
I wanted to get into this book but it is just to much like every single other book like it I have read. I needed something to make it stand apart and I just couldn't find it.

I had the same problem with Halo. I forced myself to finish reading it, but it took me over a week. My daughter, on the other hand, loved it, which is very discouraging. lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, I had trouble with Halo, too. I feel like it needed a lot more editing first off, plus Bethany did get aggravating at times. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI would've DNFed Halo if I wasn't so hellbent on finishing books until the bitter end.
ReplyDeleteAfter Covet I wasn't really interested in continuing with that series, and having read a lot of mixed reviews of Crave I'm kind of glad I stopped when I did.
ReplyDeleteHalo failed me too =(
ReplyDeleteThat's really cool that you share some of the whys behind the DNFs, and that you post some additional views on the book. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Halo cover but it was a let down for me. I agree about the main character. I know she was supposed to be naive but come on! Too bad about Blood Trinity, I wanted to check that one out.
ReplyDeleteI did manage to finish Halo, but felt the exact same way you did about the characters.
ReplyDeleteI gave up on JR Ward several books ago. She destroyed her Blackdagger Brotherhood series (in my opinion) and the Covet just bored the tears out of me. She used to be a great writer, I don't know what happened but now her books leave me disappointed.

I have Halo but was unable to pick it up after April's review of it hehe.
