Lady Elyssa Yamato Amaterasu Wentworth is a centuries-old vampire who's been given a new servant-Jacob, a total alpha male unaccustomed to submitting to any woman's wishes. What really binds Jacob to her are not her sensual midnight hungers, but something far more provocative. It stirs her blood, renews her life, and awakens her soul like only true love can. The passion between Elyssa and Jacob yields something else unexpected-a shared history that reaches back through the centuries and is fated to challenge their destiny like nothing ever will again.
Wow! This book is hot! Like touching fire, scald you skin, and every other heat inducing euphemisms there is and add them together. STEAMY! Anyway...I am sure you are getting the point. There is a lot of sensuality in the pages of this book. Not just sex or lust, but sensuality of the mind, of love, of just being near another living thing. (can't really say human being). I love to see non-sexual sensuality mixed with sexual heat and lustful sensuality; they make a great juxtaposition.
I liked Lyssa in this book but I think really...Jacob is my favorite; what girl can resist an Irish baroque? He is just way more approachable and touchable as character for me so I really enjoyed reading about him and I loved delving into his mind along with Lyssa through out the story. I do like Lyssa, she is a hard task mistress, but she true to who she is and I can appreciate that in a good character.
I loved the heat throughout the book. I was pleasantly surprised in more than one or two of the sexual scenes in the book; which is good...I get tired of reading the the same damn thing in about ten different erotica or romances, especially BDSM, over, and over. It gets old, this book kept me off my guard and pleasantly aware.
I think my only complaint about this book is that it didn't seem (up front) to have a actual like structure...it took me time to think about it after I finished up...about ten minutes ago...to formulate the major events, plot points, and climax points (no pun intended) in my head to see the actual structure of the book. I like it...I am not going to give away how I am feeling about what I think the main conflict and such is...I will let you read the book and come to your own conclusions.
Joey Hill is one of the amazing authors I met at AAD2010. She totally caught me off guard...she is this hardcore erotica author and when you meet her she is soft spoken and down right sweet. I love that fact about her and her books...shows that you never know what is under the hood, or inside of a person, you never can judge from the outside and simply know everything. I had a wonderful time meeting her and I will DEFINITELY continue this amazing series! I suggest you pick it up to.
