Synopsis:
What does it mean to be extraordinary?

Phoebe finds herself drawn to Mallory, the strange and secretive new kid in school. Soon the two girls are as close as sisters...until Mallory's magnetic older brother, Ryland, appears. Ryland has an immediate, exciting hold on Phoebe - but a dangerous hold, for she begins to questions her feelings about her best friend and, worse, about herself.

Soon she'll discover the shocking fantastical truth about Ryland and Mallory, and about an age-old debt they expect her to pay. Will she be strong enough to resist? Will she be special enough to save herself?

Review: Phoebe hung out with all the 'right' people and because she's a Rothschild, doors open wherever she goes. Until she meets Mallory - then she ditches the 'right' people and becomes Mallory's best friend, a true confidant, which she never had before. What Phoebe doesn't know is that Mallory has a hidden agenda and it just may cost her life when she finds out what it is. When Ryland, Mallory's brother, shows up Phoebe is head-over-heels in love and will admit something she's feared for her entire life is true. Will Phoebe realize her potential before it's too late?

I enjoyed this book very much. I thought the story was well thought-out and well written. One thing I found I wasn't a big fan of is that some of the characters seemed one-sided until the very end. I would have enjoyed a little more depth as the story went along, not just at the climax of the story. Overall, this was a great read (hence the 5 stars) and I recommend that you read it and have it make it's own impression upon you. No one is as they seems...no matter how ordinary...

  4. Totally agree that many of the characters seemed one-sided, especially Benjamin, and that's what really frustrated me about the story! (Among others, ha.) I enjoyed it overall, though, and am glad you did, too!
