A warm summer Saturday. An amusement park. David Harwood is glad to be spending some quality time with his wife and their four-year-old son. But what begins as a pleasant family outing turns into a nightmare after an inexplicable disappearance. A frantic search only leads to an even more shocking and harrowing turn of events. Until this terrifying moment, David Harwood is just a small-town reporter in need of a break. Now the only thing he cares about is restoring his family. Desperate for any clue, David dives into his own investigation—and into a web of lies and deceit. For with every new piece of evidence he uncovers, David finds more questions—and moves ever closer to a shattering truth.

Review: David and Jan Harwood are just a normal couple living in a small town with their son. David is a reporter who is onto a hot story about the new for-profit jail that might be built in town and payoffs that are being made to high-ranking officials. He's being told to back off from many sides at the same time that his wife is starting to crack up - thinking that her family would be better off without her.

A family trip to an amusement park turns scary when first David's son, Ethan, goes missing and then his wife does. He is able to find Ethan, but there was no trace of Jan and things are adding up to look as if David set up everything and murdered Jan. But David is on the hunt for the truth. A trip to Jan's parents house brings a startling revelation and the threads just keep unraveling in the tapestry of David's life.

This was a gripping and chilling book. I enjoyed it very much and it was very hard to put down. All of the pieces of the puzzle rotate and finally slide into place as the pace amps up to warp speed. It was an intense read and will make you think twice about who you put your trust in.
