After a horrible accident claims the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever Bloom can see people’s aura, hear their thoughts, and know someone’s entire life story by touching them. Going out of her way to avoid human contact and suppress her abilities, she has been branded a freak at her new high school – but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste. Damen is gorgeous, exotic, and wealthy. He’s the only one who can silence the noise and random energy in her head – wielding a magic so intense, it’s as though he can peer straight into her soul. As Ever is drawn deeper into his enticing world of secrets and mystery, she’s left with more questions than answers. And she has no idea just who he really is – or what he is. The only thing she knows to be true is that she’s falling deeply and helplessly in love with him.

Review: Ever Bloom lost everything she held dear - her family - in a tragic car accident. She almost lost her life, too, but she feels like she doesn't belong here anymore. She's now living with her aunt and all the things Ever thought were important in her old life - boys, make-up, parties - are no longer of any importance. She came back with a gift to see auras and ghosts, read minds, and learn who a person is deep down with a touch - but she doesn't see them as gifts. She just wants to be normal again, but she knows that's not going to happen. Until she meets Damen and he quiets the thoughts of everyone around her with a touch.

She craves his touch, but won't admit it, because she feels like she doesn't deserve happiness. She feels like the accident which took her family away was all her fault and keeps the scars to prove it to herself. There's more to Damen than meets the eye and she's trying to solve his mystery which opens her up to the dark forces that want her gone.

This book was definitely fact-paced and was hard to put down.  I can understand how Ever can feel guilty for what she feels is the biggest mistake of her life. I really liked some of the supporting characters - Riley, Haven, and Miles - they brought perspective to who Ever is (how she sees herself vs. how others do). Also, there were aspects of Ever and Damen's relationship I didn't like. I thought the sudden appearing and disappearing with no explanation was a bit abrupt and I would have liked to learn more about Damen besides at the end of the book. Perhaps we'll learn more in the next book!

The Immortals Series: Evermore (1), Blue Moon (2), Shadowland (3), Dark Flame (4), Night Star (5), Everlasting (6)

  1. Love your take on this one...hopefully you will stick with the series, things kinda go down hill for a bit, but at least for me Dark Flame brought some hope to the whole series, I cant wait to read more!

  2. Evermore is one of my newer favorites! I agree that some of it was kind of abrupt, but I fell in love with it all the same. Hopefully Jenn is right, and it picks up again!

  3. I have only a few chapters left on this one....I definitely felt like some of the chapters ended quickly....Left me saying, HUH? Overall it is an interesting story, YA for sure though! I am going to stick with the series...I already ordered the 2nd one.

  4. Hi Star, Great review so I will have to check this one out.

My daughters name is Starr. I will have to tell her I found another
