Blurb: All She Wants Is Revenge

Homicide detective Charlotte Caissie is dedicated to bringing down the crime boss responsible for her father’s murder.  Using Jimmy Legere’s right hand man is a dangerous gamble, not just because of his ruthless reputation as more monster than man, but because her feelings for her mysterious and irresistible enemy are … complicated.  There’s just something about Max.

Then He Risks His Life to Save Hers

Rescued from the swamps as a child, Max Savoie owes Jimmy Legere his life. Existing silently in his rescuer’s shadow, he heeds only one voice.  Until Charlotte Caissie awakens his emotions and tests his loyalties.  Forced to step outside his cautious rules to save her, he risks more than his heart . . . he risks exposing his dark secret.

Now They're Both In Over Their Heads

Working together means facing the truth about who and what they are, and what they need from one another.  If Max is the murderer she seeks, Cee Cee might be his next victim. She can’t afford to trust any man.  Good thing Max isn’t one.

Review in 5: Contradicting, Sexy, Strong, Interesting, Drool-worthy.

Review: This book is a bit different than other paranormal romances I have read. The first difference is the characters. The hero is the physical epitome of an Alpha male but his personality and brain were definitely not Alpha male. Max is an odd juxtaposition that I really liked reading, he is sensitive and broken in a way that makes him endearing to the reader. He is a bad guy yet he has a conscience and reservations about his evil ways once he starts taking the role of Alpha. Our heroine is also completely different than the norm. She is strong, kick-ass, and all about mowing down people who get in her way, to include the delicious Max.

Secondly, I think the relationship between Max and Cee Cee is a tad unlikely, I don't see a normal cop and a normal criminal becoming and item, the sex, maybe, but the love, probably not. I am not saying that it's bad, I just can't see it happening.

Anyway, I love the setting of this story, I love the southern mystery feel of the drama and the super evil mob boss. I really enjoyed the usual copy banter between Cee Cee and her partner as well. This is a great read, can't wait to see what else is in store for Cee Cee and Max.

  1. Great review! I really enjoyed this book as well, although I definitely wonder how Max and CeeCee are going to resolve their relationship issues too. I think that just made me more excited for the next two books though. :D
