Book Review: Linger by: Maggie Stiefvater

Rating:

Publisher: Scholastic

Origins: Around the World Tours

Format: ARC Softcover

Blurb: In Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. Now, in Linger, they must fight to be together. For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping a very dangerous secret about her own well-being. For Sam, this means grappling with his werewolf past . . . and figuring out a way to survive into the future. Add into the mix a new wolf named Cole, whose own past has the potential to destroy the whole pack. And Isabelle, who already lost her brother to the wolves . . . and is nonetheless drawn to Cole.

At turns harrowing and euphoric, Linger is a spellbinding love story that explores both sides of love -- the light and the dark, the warm and the cold -- in a way you will never forget.

Review in 5: Poetic, Romantic, Heartbreaking, Beautiful, and just AMAZING!

Review: I have started to find that it is very difficult for me to articulate in a review what I want to say when I am super emotional about the book. I don't know why it is getting worse, maybe I am reading better and better books. I will try my best though, here goes...

I love this book *deep breathe* because it is so beautifully written; the characters are so beautiful in themselves, and it made me tear up (THANK MAGGIE *evil eyes*). I can see each character's personality and emotions and I can feel them as I would feel my own. I love the unimaginable depth of the love and devotion that Sam and Grace share. There are also important teenage themes in this book, like parents not liking significant others, what it means to be in love, and how to not handle yourself when you are pissed at your parents. Although in this book I think Grace is in the right.

The plot line is great, it does start a bit slow but that is easy to overcome once you get reacquainted with the characters. It is really heartbreaking though and it is definitely a hook and I am already dying for the next book! GAH Maggie: write faster!

  2. I guess that the only upside in having to wait to read this book is that I won't have to wait as long as you folks who have ARCs for the third book. (Even if the wait is only shortened by a couple of months!) I had an early copy of the Catching Fire this past year and it drove me crazy having to wait for others to read it. I had to keep mum for a long, long time. Thanks for the review.

  5. From the things I have read, this sounds better than Shiver, and I am not sure how that could possibly even happen - wonderful review, I cant wait to get my hands on a copy! I also agree with Mrs. DeRaps, LOL those of us that have to wait to read it, will not have to wait as long to get the 3rd book - but EAK, soo excited! :)
